Writing
How the game is built, and the decisions behind it.
-
Where the word ladder comes from
At Christmas in 1877, two girls told Lewis Carroll they had nothing to do and asked him for some riddles. He did not have any riddles.
-
How to get better at it
There is a moment, somewhere in your first week, when the ten seconds stop feeling like a countdown and start feeling like enough. Everything below is about bringing that moment forward.
-
The mode where the obvious move is wrong
Bridge gives you two words and asks for the shortest path between them. COLD to WARM. There is no clock. The header tells you the par before you start.
-
No ads, no energy, no streaks
Morphink has no advertising in it. It has no energy meter, no lives, no timer counting down to when you are allowed to play again. It has no streak to lose.
-
What the dashboard will not tell you
Morphink has a page that draws four of your own numbers, week by week. It reports them and interprets none of them.
-
The whole game is one rule
A word sits on the page. Change one letter and it becomes another word. You can add a letter, take one away, or swap one. Then do it again, before the ink dries.
